Helios Photovoltaic is proud to introduce the Everlight PV Thermal (PVT) Module series to its line of high quality, solar energy products. Our revolutionary design combines photovoltaic energy generation with thermal heating capabilities in one powerful, lightweight, cost effective module.
In addition to electricity, PV modules also produce heat; a potential energy source that is simply lost with a standard PV module. But our EL PVT modules capture this otherwise unused heat and use it to produce more energy, providing heat for water and air in addition to electricity. The innovative design of the EL PVT module produces more total energy per m2, drastically reducing a system’s buyback time.
Our EL PVT modules also deliver substantially higher efficiencies compared to other PV modules. A PV module’s performance can be degraded when subjected to extremes in operating temperature. But our EL-PVT modules eliminate this problem through the use of an integrated heat exchanger with a water/glycol mix. This heating exchange capability can effectively cool or warm the solar cells equally when needed, keeping the module’s temperature at a constant 35oC. At this temperature yield reductions due to excessive heat in the summer are prevented, improving the system’s electrical output by 15-20% compared to standard PV modules. During the winter, heated water can be pumped through the module quickly melting away snow and exposing the modules to sunlight, ensuring uninterrupted power generation.
A EL-PVT system also has many beneficial commercial applications as well. For hotels a PVT system can offset the building’s need for grid supplied electricity and hot water generation, especially when only a portion of its rooms are occupied. Under such conditions a PVT system can provide a majority of a hotel’s power needs and most, if not all, of its hot water supply. And if there is a heated pool on the premises, a PVT system can drastically reduce the costs of operating and maintaining it while simultaneously reducing the hotel’s carbon footprint.
The higher conversion efficiency and thermal capabilities of the EL-PVT modules make them ideal for large power generating plants and PV parks. When combined with a low temperature differential engine, a PV park owner can enjoy not only the higher efficiencies the modules provide, but also can convert the additional thermal energy into electricity, producing higher returns on investments. And of course our EL-PVT modules’ heat exchanging capabilities make them the perfect panels for concentrator arrays, optimizing power production in your PV power system.
